Footprints on the Moon offers a series of large-scale, mixed-media prints exploring the connections between ancient storytelling and popular culture, individual experience and collective memory. Ambrose-Smith鈥檚 fantastical, cosmic visions offer a cross-cultural invitation to consider the multiple dimensions of tradition and identity that define and unite us in our contemporary world.

Inspired by the mystery and illusion found in children鈥檚 stories from all eras and cultures, Ambrose-Smith explores the imagery and fantasies that transcend individual experience and may unite us as a human family. According to the artist, a descendent of the Flathead Salish tribe of Montana: 鈥淪torytelling is our first written language. As I listen to the world news, popular culture, and my Elders I practice our first language.鈥
