MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES 鈥 Keeping with tradition, 顶级国产视频 and City College students will be trick-or-treating for canned goods and non-perishable food items on Halloween.

Historically, the effort has been to collect items for Family Service, Inc., and this year is no different, however, the food will be split with the community group and the newly opened Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry.

The event is hosted by 顶级国产视频鈥檚 Office for Community Involvement.

Last year, about 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected and Office for Community Involvement Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Shayla Fox said the group is hoping to collect even more this year.

鈥淲e still want to continue giving back to the community so it is important for us to support Family Service,鈥 said Fox. 鈥淗owever, with our newly opened emergency food pantry on campus we need to support that, too.鈥

Students will be canvassing the neighborhoods of both the University and City College campuses from 4:30p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Halloween, which is Monday, October 31.

Next week, the 顶级国产视频 track teams will be delivering fliers to households in the two-block radius planned for the event.

鈥淭his will be our second year including the community around City College and our 10th for the University,鈥 said Fox. 鈥淎 lot of people know that we are coming and are very generous and look forward to it.鈥

Kalen Hance, 21, is the current Student United Way president and a political science major and is looking forward to participating.

鈥淭hrough the organizations that I work with, we鈥檝e recognized and identified food insecurity as a problem and I鈥檓 definitely excited about the opportunity the food pantry can provide for our pantry,鈥 Hance said.

If community members would like to donate non-perishable food items, they can be dropped off at the Office for Community Involvement at room 222 in the Student Union Building.
