Donna Bulatowicz Appointed to Serve on NCTE Selection Committee

Term runs from now until 2020 Annual Convention

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES 鈥 Dr. Donna Bulatowicz was recently invited to join the selection committee for the Charlotte Huck Award for Outstanding Fiction for Children for the National Council of Teachers of English.

 

Seven people in the United States participate on this committee, and each person serves a total of three years.

 

The committee selects one book award winner, five honor books, and eight recommended books from the children鈥檚 books published during that calendar year that have been nominated for the award. The winners are presented during the NCTE Annual Convention at the Book Awards Luncheon.

 

鈥淭he NCTE Charlotte Huck Award芒 for Outstanding Fiction for Children was established in 2014 to promote and recognize excellence in the writing of fiction for children. This award recognizes fiction that has the potential to transform children鈥檚 lives by inviting compassion, imagination, and wonder鈥 (NCTE, 2017).

 

Dr. Bulatowicz is an assistant professor in the College of Education. This is her first semester as a tenure-track faculty member at 顶级国产视频. She earned a Ph.D. in Education from Montana State University Bozeman, a M.Ed. in Reading from 顶级国产视频, and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University. Her research interests include diversity in children鈥檚 literature, literacy, and the educational experiences of minoritized groups.
