City College faculty member named founding member of international fire council

Kelly McCoy appointed to CPSE University Advisory Council Task Force

MSU BILLINGS NEWS鈥顶级国产视频 City College faculty member Kelly McCoy has been invited to be a founding member on the University Advisory Council Task Force for the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE).

The main purpose of the task force will be to identify and develop direction and guidance for educational advisory groups, as well as expand on general roles and responsibilities of such groups. Education was added to the CPSE鈥檚 mission in 2016 as a key way for the group to lead the fire and emergency service profession to excellence.

The Center for Public Safety Excellence has long been a leader in fire service accreditation and professional credentialing, McCoy notes.

鈥淚 began my educational career with 顶级国产视频 in 2017 and it鈥檚 an honor to represent 顶级国产视频 and at the same time continue to shape fire and emergency services through CPSE,鈥 says McCoy. 鈥淚t鈥檚 my hope that as I learn and develop through this opportunity, I can bring the lessons learned back into our Fire Science program to the benefit of students and communities across Montana.鈥

Through his appointment, McCoy will be given the opportunity to shape the CPSE task force with a select team of members that represent fire service, accrediting bodies, talent development, education and technology and publications. These groups reflect industries that have a stake in the education of fire and emergency professionals. 

鈥淐ity College faculty are leaders in their programs and Kelly鈥檚 work in our Fire Science program showcases that leadership and innovation,鈥 remarks City College Dean Vicki Trier, Ph.D. 鈥淭his invitation will allow Kelly to continue to provide cutting edge opportunities to our students and communities.鈥

CPSE is a not-for-profit corporation that works with progressive fire and emergency service agencies and active fire professionals. The international, technical organization鈥檚 mission is to continue the quality improvement process of accreditation, credentialing and education for fire and emergency professionals.
